The performance investigation is more focus on 132kV transmission tower. The earthing system designed is constructed based on the TNB transmission tower standard. The arrangement of earthing system design comprises of electrode rod and counterpoise wire extend from the transmission tower base. In addition, some extensive literature review of the performance of variety types of electrodes also is presented. The reason for this design selection in consideration of the objectives of project. To study the performance of earthing system design, to study the effects of soil resistivity and influence of tower footing resistance, TFR. Most important one, to achieve possible solution and method for the best design to be used including relevant factor in terms of costs and efficiency. The work study and investigation carried out are based on observation and manipulation of parameter and data which conducted using the simulation software of CDEGS. The investigation was computed where some parameter are changed and manipulated such as depth of electrode and soil resistivity. The earthing system design arrangement are simulated in one of the simulation modules which is MALT modules. The simulation running and execution was done by assist from the software guidelines. Which can refer in the appendix section. Then, the results are presented in terms of the grounding potential rise, GPR and voltage potential rise, VPR. The result indicates how the current distribution around the tower is discharged. However, the TFR result shows it is depends on the soil resistivity. If the soil resistivity is increased so the TFR does. The results of GPR and VPR profiles also indicates the interaction due to TFR. Which at the end of the results, the TFR limit is not able accomplish after several modification and adjustment made on the design. So, an alternative solution due to the problem was proposed.
