Various IoT applications have been developed to improve quality of life. In this project, a Smart Energy Management System is developed to manage and optimize household energy consumption. This system consists of three main parts; smart socket, database server, and graphical user interface. In this project, UNITEN smart socket will be used to measure appliance power consumption. Then the data will be sent and stored into MySQL database server. A Visual Studio windows application will read power consumption data from MySQL database. The data will be processed and analyzed by windows application before being displayed in graphical user interface. The interface offers four major features to the users which are, power consumption monitoring, electric bill estimation, remote switch control, and energy management system. This Energy Management System aims to assist users to manage and optimize household energy consumption.
