Summary:Introduction: HIV is a severe infection that weakens the immune system, making individuals vulnerable to infections, neurological conditions, and rare cancers. In Malaysia, around 86,142 people live with HIV, with 68% receiving ART as of December 2022. The global HIV/AIDS crisis is a significant challenge, with 38 countries experiencing a rise in infections. The Malaysia Stigma Evaluation Survey (MySES) found that 70.1% of respondents felt ashamed due to their HIV status with almost half of the respondent experienced discrimination in the healthcare settings. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice towards HIV/AIDS among UNIMAS undergraduate nursing students and to examine the relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice towards HIV/AIDS. Method: A quantitative cross-sectional study of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice among UNIMAS undergraduate nursing students. A total number of 168 participant were interviewed by given a questionnaire adopted from Dellobelle et al. (2009) and responses were reviewed and analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Results: Overall knowledge of the nursing students was moderate. Most of the student did not know that HIV-positive TB patients have no symptoms or signs of HIV disease (57.7%). Most students believe that patients with HIV/AIDS should be treated with the same respect as any other patient (51.2%). Around 97.0% of the student encourage people to get tested and counselled for HIV/AIDS. Conclusion: This study concludes that UNIMAS undergraduate nursing student have moderate knowledge and practice towards HIV/AIDS and negative attitude.
