Computer science Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is a technology that has been used widely in malls and parking management systems to recognize car number plates. The system can be used for various purposes such as security by recording the entry and exit of the cars or even used to pay parking tickets. This project describes the development of an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system for primary schools to improve the safety and efficiency of the pick-up process for students. The proposed system uses the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology to gather requirements and design the system, with a focus on delivering functional and innovative solutions quickly and efficiently. The process of requirements analysis is also described, including the gathering of user requirements and specifications through questionnaires. The software and hardware requirements for the proposed system are also outlined, including the technologies and components that will be used to develop and deploy the system, such as Raspberry Pi, Node-RED, YOLOv8, OCR and web application. The system allows only registered cars to enter the school compound and alert students when their parents/bus arrives, also it allows parentsto update or add their car's number plates in the system and provide a record of car plates that enter and exit the school compound to the school administrator. Overall, this project aims to enhance security and safety for school students by allowing only registered car plates to enter the school compound for pick-up Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, (UNIMAS) 2023 Final Year Project Report NonPeerReviewed text en http://ir.unimas.my/id/eprint/44120/1/Willissarino%20Anak%20Itam%20%28fulltext%29.pdf Willissarino, Itam (2023) School Children Pickup System Using Plate Recognition.
