Description
Summary:Polychaete is one of the macrobenthic communities that have various advantages such as recycling of organic matter and indicators. Polychaetes can be found abundantly in marine anvironment. They are usually the predominant macrobenthic in sediments and make up more than half of the organisms in the soft-bottom habitat. Patuk and Bruit Islands are well known asa the feeding ground for migratory birds. This can be related with the community structure of macrobenthic in the area. The samplings were conducted on 22/8/14 and 23/8/14. The total individuals of polychaete found in the study area 153 individuals consisting of 12 families and 14 genera. The dominant species found was Dendronereis sp. from the family Nereididae. The species density was found to be indluenced insignificantly by the factor of dissolved oxygen and Total Organic Matter.
