EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF AIR-WATER TWO-PHASE FLOW IN MICRO-CHANNEL
Multiphase flow system is defined as the simultaneous flow of more than one phase in a channel. Normally, the type of flow occurs as two or more partially or not miscible fluids are brought in contact and subjected to pressure gradient. There are many possible combinations of the multiphase flow suc...

Normally, the type of flow occurs as two or more partially or not miscible fluids are brought in contact and subjected to pressure gradient. There are many possible combinations of the multiphase flow such as solid-solid, solid-gas, liquid-gas, simultaneous flow of two immiscible liquids and solid-liquid-gas flow. Mostly, in industrial applications are dealing with the system such as distillation process, oil recovery, food industry, cosmetic, nuclear power plant cooling and firefighting. The experimental study was conducted for two-phase flows in micro-channel with external and internal diameter of 0.8 mm and 0.5 mm respectively. The superficial velocity for both air and water for this experiment are at range and respectively. During the experimental work, there are four types of flow pattern have been discovered which are bubbly, churn, slug-annular and annular flows. The transition of flows from bubbly to annular flows occurred as both air and water superficial velocity were increased. The OPTIKAM Pro-5 microscope with camera that connected to the personal computer was capturing the images of the flow pattern.
