Identification of Deregulated Imprinted Genes Involved in Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the serious threat in Malaysia and the involvement of the imprinted genes in CRC is not yet identified. Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the third deadliest reported cancer in Malaysia for both sexes. Globally, CRC is the third common cancer in men and second in female. T...

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the third deadliest reported cancer in Malaysia for both sexes. Globally, CRC is the third common cancer in men and second in female. The imprinted genes are the genes that monoallelically expressed whether from paternal or maternal. This phenomenon is not a pathology. In this study, meta-analysis and bioinformatics method is used in order to identify the deregulated imprinted genes that involved in the CRC. Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) data from twelve previously published data are analysed and the full LOH map for CRC for each chromosome is created. From the LOH map, the common deleted regions (CDR) for each chromosome is identified. The CDR is amalgamated with the imprintome dataset. Therefore, we identified imprinted genes NH2PL 1 and RHOBTB3 to be located at the CDR of CRC.
