| Summary: | The Seamstress Measurement System (SeaMeaS) is proposed to help the fashion industry manage their business. Some seamstresses who run small business, they may lack knowledge of managing the business capital to hire large number of workers to help them manage their business. In
addition, this system can help reduce business capital expenditure on workers’ salaries. Based on the
collection of literacy information, there are several tailoring systems that have been developed but the
systems rarely used by seamstresses because the functions provided by the system are is less used by seamstress. The methodology used to develop this proposed system is the Iterative model. An interview was conducted with five seamstresses that running a small business in Kuching, Sarawak to get information on the requirements and suggestions of seamstresses to develop and design this
proposed system. The system is developed according to the requirements and suggestions provided by the seamstress to help them manage their business. Main function of this proposed system is to record customer information and order list to by order with a systematic system. In addition, the system helps the seamstress to update the customer’s order information to make it easier for the customer to review their order status in addition to contacting the seamstress personally. Therefore, the system provides a function for customers to check their order status whether they are ready for pickup or still in pending. In addition, the system provides a function for seamstresses to record the number of tailoring tools to enable them to monitor the remaining stocks of tools. Besides, for additional functions the system provides a function where the seamstress can monitor the profitability of the business by recording business income and expenses into the system. Next, the system works as an electronic album in place of official business magazines to enable seamstresses to record their previous work as a reference for customers to make a decision on their garment design. |
