The expertise to contain and minimize the damage caused by termites requires extensive studies on the termites involved to learn the scientific knowledge and behaviour of it. However, there are plenty of species categorized under a single genus while the taxonomy of termite contains more than one genus. Different species of termite exhibits different behaviour and thus different countermeasure. The identification of these termite species is not simple and very time-consuming. Till day, all steps to identify the species are done manually by cross-referencing with unstandardized info in identification books. Therefore, a web-based species identification system can be utilized to enhance the efficiency in identification of species. Users are able to store identification data in a standardized format while distinguish each species within moments of first sight. A web-based system provides the flexibility to operate across different devices and platform, while access is not limited to location provided with an internet connection. Proposed system is able to reduce or even eliminate the needs to carry multiple identification book along during discovery assignments or field trip. Entomology is the scientific study of insects and their biology. It is also a branch of zoology.
Entomologist is the scientist who studies insects, also known as entomology. Zoologist and entomologist
conduct studies and researches on insects to make new discovery. Termite has been considered as one
of the pests. The expertise to contain and minimize the damage caused by termites requires extensive
studies on the termites involved to learn the scientific knowledge and behaviour of it. However, there
are plenty of species categorized under a single genus while the taxonomy of termite contains more
than one genus. Different species of termite exhibits different behaviour and thus different
countermeasure. The identification of these termite species is not simple and very time-consuming. Till
day, all steps to identify the species are done manually by cross-referencing with unstandardized info
in identification books. Therefore, a web-based species identification system can be utilized to enhance
the efficiency in identification of species. Users are able to store identification data in a standardized
format while distinguish each species within moments of first sight. A web-based system provides the
flexibility to operate across different devices and platform, while access is not limited to location
