This study was conducted in UNIMAS campus to determine their diets in two different habitats, grass marsh and lake edge. The number of egrets observed foraging in grass marsh was significantly higher than at lake edge habitats. The prey density in grass marsh is also higher than lake edge. The prey items found in grass marsh and lake edge are from orders Aranea, Odonata, Orthoptera, Diptera, Stylommatophora, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Perciformes, Crypniformes and Decapoda. Inverterbrates from order Decapoda had the highest protein content of 71.73% while vertebrate prey items, Oreochromis mossambicus had the highest moisture and fat content, 76.87% and 13.18% respectively. Puntius chola had the highest ash and energy content which is 20.58% and 802J/g respectively. Tilapia sparrmanii had the highest percentage of protein content which is 20.92% and Oreochromis niloticus had the highest content for phosphorus, 0.01 mg/g.
