要約:Paddy field is considered as artificial wetland that sustains various bird species. The existing data on birds in paddy fields are insufficient. Hence, this study was conducted by using mist net and line transect at paddy fields in Kampung Stunggang Melayu Baru and Kampung Chupak on October 2016 to March 2017. There are 911 individual birds representing 55 species belonging to 26 families being recorded. The most abundance species recorded is Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus) with 17.23%. Statistical analysis showed the alternative hypothesis that states abundance of bird species is different between two sampling area was accepted (F47,32 4.77 x 10-5 , p< 0.05). It also show a significant different of bird diversity between planting and harvesting stage at both study sites since (F47,52 = 1.45 x 10-5 , p< 0.05). Some near threatened and vulnerable species categorized under IUCN status are present in both study area such as Curlew Sandpiper and Red-crowned Barbet. This study clearly shows paddy fields is important for long-term survival of bird popUlation.
