Fish were captured using drift nets and three layer nets. A total of 100 individuals have been investigated. Fish are observed by naked eyes and dissecting microscope. TL, SL, HL, BW, fin rays were measured and counted using measuring board, electronic scale and dissecting microscope respectively. The spines zone, teeth and nostrils are drawn upon observation by naked eyes. Result shows that TL, SL, HL and BW ranged from 12.5 to 34.0 cm, 10.7 to 29.9 cm, 2.9 to 8.5 cm, 39.3 to 1020.0 g respectively with significant difference in size between male and female. The anal fin rays and dorsal fin rays ranged from 25 to 29 and 33 to 37 respectively. The colour of male fish is brighter than female fish. The toxicity study is done by mouse bioassays. Three toxin extractions from tissues of gonad, muscle, and liver using 0.1% acetic acid are injected to the Gerbil mouse and responses of the mouse were recorded. The toxicity scores ranged from < 2 MU/g to 9.8 MU/g. The fish is considered non toxic.
