The Sarawakian student’s experience to gain formal education includes many challenges, considering that the state faces the greatest infrastructure challenges, also being the state with the highest percentage of rural schools in Malaysia, and which falls in the low socio economic status. Despite it all, the success story of SK Ulu Lubai achieving 100% of passes in the UPSR exam since 2006 is a proof that despite poor rural conditions, Sarawakian schools and students are able to excel in terms of academic standards. While the Malaysian education system offers a variety of opportunities to assist students from the rural outreach, many factors contribute and influence their success.
