Summary: | Transport mechanisms in concrete play an important role in properties of concrete. An experimental investigation is conducted to explore the behaviour of water absorption in modified concrete using 10% of aluminium dross. The effect of 150μm aluminium dross as a filler in concrete is investigated to relate the absorption behaviour with compressive strength of concrete. This study provides laboratory study of the void space in concrete. In
this study, volume of permeability and capillary sorptivity of concrete are analysed by capillary sorptivity test, volume of permeability void test and compressive strength test. This study presents an exhaustive review of these studies and suggests a direction for future developments. Permeability and sorptivity are investigated by a laboratory work. The result from this study is uses of aluminium dross in concrete cannot improve the sorptivity, permeability of concrete and reduce the concrete strength. Aluminium dross increases the capillary sorptivity and volume of permeability void of concrete and also decreases the
strength of concrete. Based on the results of the study, smaller size of aluminium dross is recommended to improve all the factors investigated. |
