Description
Summary:Sago waste poses a serious threat to the environment. A serious environmental pollution is caused by eliminating of sago waste through open and controlled burning, direct dumping on land and rivers cause serious environmental pollution. Thus, research on utilization of sago waste as value added product should be conducted. In this study, by incorporating hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene as pendant group onto sago network, fIre retardant panel was developed. Results showed that through modillcation of sago waste, Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) spectra of P-O-C bond formed between hexachlorocyelotriphosphazene and sago waste was detected. The panel revealed excellent fIre retardant properties after flame ignition test was conducted. Under Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), the morphology structure of the panel before and after flame ignition test showed the characteristics of the panel like porous and charring properties. Overall. the characteristics of sago waste was well-designed for fIre retardant panel.
