Summary: | Sarawak is highly di versified with numerous tree species found in different forest types such as MDF, peat swamp forest, mangro ve fore st and others. A study using 20 x 20 m plot method to determine the diversity and volume of tree species in different forest types in Kpg. .ragoi area, Bau had been carried out. Shann on diversity index (H') were enumerated wit h 2.54 in alluvial- riparian forest, 1.84 in limestone forest and 2.09 in MDF.
Analysis on the importance values (I,) of tree species was en umerated and quantified the dominant and the least dominant species. In alluvial riparian forest, the dominant and least dominant spec ies are Shorea macrophylla (1 ,= 106.65) and Myrislica beccarii (1,= 7.13). In limestone forest, the dominant and the least dominant species are Shurea sp. (1 ,= 141.40) and Artocarpus anisophyllus (1,= 14.92). In MDF, the dominant and least dominant species are Shorea sp. (1 ,= 96. 35) and Baccallrea sp. (1,= 10.56). The average total vo lume o f tree spec ies were also enumerat ed w ith 28.52 m} ha", 63.94 m} ha-' and 67.78 in different fo rest types. The commercia l timber vo lume fo r selected trees with dbh more than 45 cm was a lso enumerated for all establis hed plo ts. |
