Description
Summary:Information on distribution of dissolved iron (dFe) and dissolved manganese (dMn) at Southwestern South China Sea (SSCS) off Sarawak Borneo waters including sources of inputs were limited and outdated. Thus, this study aim to improve our understanding of the natural or/and anthropogenic sources and processes associated with the dFe and dMn at the SSCS off the Sarawak Borneo waters area by highlighting three objectives which were: (1) to study on the hydrography and selected physico-chemical characteristics of SSCS off Sarawak Borneo waters, (2) to determine the distribution of dFe and dMn in SSCS off the Sarawak Borneo waters and (3) to estimate the atmospheric and lateral advective fluxes of dFe and dMn into the surface water of SSCS off the Sarawak Borneo waters. Seawater and aerosol samples were collected around study area during the sampling periods. Analysis of trace metals (Fe and Mn), nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) and Fe(III) - binding ligands were conducted for seawater samples while aerosol samples were analysed for trace metals (Fe and Mn) and nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) content.
