Usage of solar water heater is one of the factors that cause the increased demand. There are many types of solar water heater (SWH) for example flat plat type and cylindrical type. The system can be active or passive. For an active syst~m, it contains pump and controller while the passive rely on natural con vection to circulate the water between the I·vater heater and tank. This study focuses on the design and testing of passive cylindrical solar water heater. According to some research, cylindrical solar water heater has a beller performance compare to other type of solar water heater. It consists of glass tube as the receiver with the length of O.4m and diameter of 0.14m. Two copper collector design; coil type and lin type are used. The coil with the length of 5.3m of copper tube and the fin with the length of I. 1m of copper tube compared during the tive testing days. The testing recorded the inlet, outlet and ambient temperature hourly from 8.00am till 5.00pm. The result shows that coil type is the better collector with the highest efficiency is at 80%. The hi ghest outlet temperature is at S7 .7"C had been achic·:ed. The result showed a good capabi lity of the systelll to convert the solar energy to heat which then can be used to heat water.
