Sanitary engineering In civil engineering work, soils play an important role. Bearing capacity of the soil should be able to withstand the ultimate design load from structure. There are several methods to improve the strength of the soil. Conventional method used for soil improvement is compaction. Compaction is time consuming and difficult to acquire optimum moisture content (OMC) at field due to certain factors. In this research, the relationship between the effect of compaction energy with respect to maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC) is studied. The effect of compaction energy is investigated by testing sample using different method of compaction method (Standard Proctor and Modified Proctor) and tested with series of numbers of blows. In this research, the types of soil limited for cohesive soil which are silt or clay only. The observed experiment result shows that the increase of maximum dry density (MDD) and decrease of optimum moisture content (OMC) of the samples by providing high compaction energy. Therefore, the relationship of maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC) of different types of cohesive soil were determined.
