Summary:Construction industry is one of the most dangerous industries that people can work on. As a result of the frequent occurrence of accidents and fatalities among workers at construction sites, it has become imperative to prioritize Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) as a significant concern. However, previous study showed that Sarawak construction industry was lack in attention on safety. Therefore, the objective of the research is to examine the factors of occupational safety and health hazards, investigate effects of poor occupational safety and health and explore strategies for improving occupational safety and health performance in Sarawak construction industry. To achieve the objectives, data was collected through quantitative research method which distribute online questionnaires survey to Contractor G7 and consultant firm that involve in Sarawak construction industry. The gathered data was then be analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The findings showed that external factors were ranked first as the main factor of causing occupational safety and health hazards in Sarawak construction industry. Cost had the highest agreement from respondent as effects of poor occupational safety and health in Sarawak construction industry. As for strategies, ensuring workers always wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in construction area was chosen as the most effective strategy for improving occupational safety and health performance in Sarawak construction industry. Limitation of the research are limited survey distribution approach, insufficient variables, limited target respondents and big research area. It is recommended for future research to improve survey distribution approach, construct more variables, broader the targeted respondent, and have a more precise research area.
