Description
Summary:Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of the key digital technologies used in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector, has also taken centre stage in the higher education space for AEC. Given that BIM is one of the core technologies in the worldwide AEC industry's push towards digitalisation to achieve enhanced project efficiency, it is essential to comprehend the patterns of BIM education in universities. However, the application of BIM by universities is still not very common, and this has to be addressed. UNIMAS is one of the universities in Sarawak that utilise BIM in AEC programmes. The aim for this research is to identify the utilisation of BIM in UNIMAS AEC undergraduates. The objectives of this research are to examine the perception of UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates on BIM utilisation in construction industry, to identify the challenges of BIM utilisation faced by UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates and to provide suggestions from UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates for enhancing BIM utilisation. The data obtained in this research will be collected from UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates through questionnaire survey. These methods are used to address the objectives for this research. The expected outcome are finding out and documenting the perception of UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates on BIM utilisation in construction industry, discover and documenting the challenges faced by UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates in utilising BIM as well as documenting the strategies suggested by UNIMAS AEC final year undergraduates to enhance the utilisation of BIM. Limitations of this research including cooperation of respondents and time constraints. Recommendations are further elaborated for future researchers and to minimise the limitations.
