Prof. Dr. School of Environmental Engineering Advanced oxidation process (AOP) Oxidation Dyes Wastewater Wastewater treatment Access is limited to UniMAP community. Advanced oxidation process (AOP), have been proposed for the oxidation of complex structure such as dyes or other organic compounds that refractory to the conventional oxidation. Among these processes, ozonation is the most widely used due to its high reactivity with many types of dye that usually provides good color removal efficiencies. The aims of this research are to evaluate the competitive degradation of reactive dyes in term of color, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC) removal and to characterize the intermediate products of reactive dyes ozonation based on UVVis. Effect of ozonation contact time on the performance of treatment was also analyzed. Dyes used in this experiment were Acid Orange 07, Remazol Brilliant Blue, Reactive Red 120 and Mixed Dyes. Results show that ozonation is capable to decolorized reactive dyes where each of the dyes almost reaches 99% of discoloration. For COD and TOC removal, the performance of ozonation is obtained which nearly 80% for COD and about 50% on the TOC removal. The degradation of the dyes can be seen from the view of UV-Vis wavelength scan with the decreasing in the intensity of the wavelength in visible and UV region. 2021 2022-01-13T00:51:27Z 2022-01-13T00:51:27Z 2014-06 Learning Object http://dspace.unimap.edu.my:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/73343 en Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)
