This paper explains how the abuse of women and child is the biggest human rights violation in India. The current paper examines the causes that lead to women issues and child abuse in India from the perspective of Arundhati Roy’s novel The God of Small Things. In present India, even after Independence, gender discrimination and child abuse in Indian society are at worst. In order to understand the causes that create challenges for women and danger for children in Indian society, the current paper studies the views and experiences of Arundhati Roy as she presented in her selected novel The God of Small Things (1997). It uses a qualitative research methodology to analyse and collect the relevant data using the textual analysis method. The significance of this study is to create an awareness among the readers on the importance of rights and freedom of women and children in India. This paper depicts how Indian women, as well as children, are facing problems and violence in their daily lives and how literature (novel) education is used to raise and build their personalities in order to contribute fruitfully in Indian society. 2019-01-26T03:41:14Z 2019-01-26T03:41:14Z 2018 Article Journal of Human Development and Communication (JoHDEC), vol.7, 2018, pages 49-60 2289-2702 http://dspace.unimap.edu.my:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/58015 http://johdec.unimap.edu.my en Center for Communication Technology and Human Development (UniMAP)
