Summary: | Hypercholesterolemia is a condition where the cholesterol level exceeded certain
permitted value. Untreated hypercholesterolemia can lead to another problem which
are atherosclerosis. It is the hardening of the arterial wall due to impacted free
cholesterol. Marine natural products have been proven to give compound with
therapeutic agent against certain diseases. This study was carried out to determine the
ability of fraction 1 and methyl benzoate isolated from Acanthaster planci, a marine
echinoderm, as a new drug candidate in reducing hypercholesterolemia via reverse
cholesterol transport. |
