Summary: | This study will be conducted at the Faculty of Sustainable Agriculture, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, to investigate the performance of lesser known carpet Grass (Axonopus affinis Chase) under high, medium and low maintenance conditions. This study was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with five replicates for each treatment. Maintenances such as mowing, irrigation, and fertilizing with different height of cutting, volume of water, and rate of fertilizer were applicated in different treatments. Parameters that have been evaluated in this study are thenumber of leaves, density (number of tillers), length of leaf, height of turf grass, length of roots, width of leaf, leaf surface area, wet weight of grass, dry weight of grass, dry weight of roots, percentage of water content, and turf color. At the end of the experiment, Medium Maintenance Condition is the most suitable to be used for the Axonopus affinis chase grass. Good maintenance practices for the A. affinisturf is the medium maintenance conditions which including mowing (2.0-2.5 inches / day), fertilizing (0.3g / two weeks), and irigation (1000ml / day). There are some things that need to be considered while the experiment is being conducted such as the addition of assessment parameters and assessments of grass growth in time to improve the A. affinis grass test process under the four treatments. |
