Description
Summary:This study was conducted at poultry house of Faculty Sustainable Agriculture (FSA) and Animal Nutrition Laboratory in University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Sandakan, Sabah. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of turmeric ( Curcuma longa) supplementation on broilers growth performance. 64 chicks were divided into four treatment diets which are commercial feed (T1=control), commercial feed + turmeric 1 % (T2), commercial feed + turmeric 2% (T3) and commercial feed + turmeric 4% (T4). The breed of the broilers used in this experiment is Cobb 500. The broilers production data such as Feed Intake (FI), Body Weight Gain (BWG) and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) was collected weekly from week three until week five. The result has shown that there are positive effects on broiler body growth by feeding turmeric as supplemental feed based on the observation. But, based on the statistical analysis, there were no significant effects of the supplementation of turmeric on the growth of the broilers. This experiment can be tried with other breed of broiler to find out if the results of this experiment are applicable to them.
