Summary: | Geological research includes lithology, geological structure, geomorphology stratigraphy and petrography in Jeli town with settled in Jeli district, northwest of the Kelantan state, Peninsular Malaysia. The total area of the research area is 25km2 at 5°43‘0" N and 5°40'30‘N latitude and 101°49'30"E and 101°52'0"E longitude. The objectives of the research are to provide geological and geochemical map of main river at Jeli town, to identify the water quality analysis at Sungai Rual and Sungai Pergau by using turbidity rneter and pH meter and to analyze the potential presence of heavy metal such as Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), Iron (Fe), and A1 ( Aluminum) in stream water at main river in Jeli town. The lithology found in the study area were aluvium, granite and gneiss. This research was conducted by doing fieldwork and laboratory analysis. Aspects that considered in fieldwork is observation towards lithology for every unit rocks found, geomorphology and structural geology. Turbidity was measured on site at the time of sampling. Laboratory analysis includes analysing hand specimen, thin section observation and point counting. Samples for the specification were collected fiom stream water and they were analyzed using laboratory equipment called by using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). A map that shows the location of the sample and its concentration was produced. The final results were then obtained from the concentration of heavy metal that indicate the parent rock of the study area. |
