Summary: | Metal is an abundant component in the soil and studied over past decade to determine oxidation and reduction of metal in the soil. Metal respiring bacteria (MRB) is the one of the bacteria that undergoes redox reaction of metal in the soil, especially tropical forest soil in Malaysia, which is high rainfall and provide optimal soil habitat for MRB. Moreover, the reaction is very important and play significant role in biogeochemical cycle. In this study, soil samples are collected from five different states and two of them are collected from higher altitude. Newly designed and modified method was used for enrich MRB and Ferrozine assay and biochemical test was used to characterize MRB. It resulting MRB bulk in tropical forest soil Malaysia, especially in terrestrial soil, what has produce higher concentration of Fe (ll) compare highland soil. |
