Summary: | The growth of population meaning the numbers of students also increase. Students who are studying in local university or study abroad are most likely to travel long distance. In Malaysia, the intercity mobility is wide. Each mode has specific characteristics that influence its preference. Although there are many differences, benefits offered by each mode of transport, but there are also some limitations of each mode of transport. To study about the factors that affecting the choice of mode of transport students in a local university is chosen which is University Malaysia Kelantan. This is because of most of the students travel far away from others state around Peninsular Malaysia to complete their graduation. The factor will be measure in this paper is including time and cost, accessibility and safety. The objective of this study is to define the significance influence between time and cost and passenger satisfaction toward the mode choice of transport, safety and passenger satisfaction toward the mode choice of transport, and the last is accessibility and passenger satisfaction toward the mode choice of transport. Stratified random sampling is being used in this study and questionnaire will be distributed to 333 respondent of UMK Pengkalan Chepa. Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) will be used to calculate the findings and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient used to test the influences of time and cost, accessibility and safety towards passenger satisfaction on selection of mode transport. After collect data and generate the data, researcher found that these three factors have moderate influence towards the mode choice of transport. Among three factors, time and cost (correlation=0.685) has the highest influences, follow by accessibility (correlation=0.618) and lastly is safety (correlation=0.506). The significant of these three factors are 0.000. As a conclusion, the three hypothesis in the research is supported |
