These two wild varieties of Centella asiatica sp was labelled as C. asiatica Jeli (Sharp) and C. asiatica Jeli (Round) due to the shape of the end of the leaves. The antioxidant activity of the two wild varieties of Centella asiatica sp was identified with DPPH free scavenging assay by decolourisation of the DPPH solution from purple colour to yellow. The IC50 of the two varieties of Centella asiatica sp was defined. The antioxidant activity of these two varieties was been supported by total phenolic content, total flavonoid content as well as thin-layer chromatography methods. From the results, the main contributor of the antioxidant activity in both of varieties of C.asiatica sp is flavonoid due to the high TFC values. The IC50 value of C.asiatica Jeli (Round is 583.911±103.976 which is higher compare to C.asiatica Jeli (Sharp) with 390.875±87.893 displaying the weak antioxidant activity. The TPC and TFC values for C.asiatica Jeli (Round) which are 5.05 mg/GAE g extracts and 12.231 mg/QE g extract respectively are also lower than C.asiatica Jeli (Sharp) with the 8.75 mg/GAE g extract for TPC value and 13.812 mg/QE g extract for TFC value and causes the antioxidant of C.asiatica Jeli (Round) is lower than C.asiatica Jeli (Sharp). Based on the result, the C.asiatica Jeli (Sharp)has more health benefits and gives more effects as medicinal applications as well as food products. 2016 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Najihah Rawiah Rahman (2016) Antioxidant activity of two varieties of Centella asiatica sp collected in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Jeli.
