Summary: | Rearing stingless bee queen is a way to sustain the stingless bee industries. However, to sustain the industries and to propagate the colonies in vitro queen propagation is needed. In this study the effect of volume of the larval food on the Geniotrigona thoracica were studied to observe whether queen can be developed or not. Both volume of larval food given 105µL and 175µL had produced queen with no significance difference on the size of queen produced. The emerged queen given 1054 volume of larval food had shorter time period (79 days) compared with the 175µL (84 days). Thus, this paper explores preliminary study on the larval development of Geniotrigona thoracica using in vitro techniques. |
