Description
Summary:The study aimed to knows the nutritive quality of Napier silage fortified with urea or poultry droppings in term of dry matter (DM) and crude protein .Pennisetum purpereum (Napier grass) was ensiled with or without molasses and poultry droppings in varying treatment; Napier grass-molasses (treatment 1); Napier grass-molasses-poultry droppings (treatment 2); Napier grass-poultry droppings(treatment 3) and Napier-grass only (treatment4;control) The result of the study indicated significant difference (p<0.05) among the treatments in terms of pH values and time taken to consume 200g silage by cow. Ensiling with poultry litter increased pH and addition of molasses-poultry droppings to the Napier silage reduced time to consume by the ruminants. No much difference of the crude protein content among treatment 1, 2 and 3. However high crude protein percentage recorded by treatment 4 which might be due to sampling error
