In nature, these polysaccharides are materials that require multiple enzymes to degrade them. The aim of this study was to find novel bacteria to degrade cellulose producing cellulose enzyme. Several samples were been isolated at soil and trunk of the dead wood. 3 samples from the decayed wood tree was shown a positive results. These bacteria sample B produce a large clearing zone indicated the high degradation rate which is 3.5cm followed by sample D which is 3.4cm and sample A and C which is 3.0cm. The cellulose assay then been futher analysis to prove the sample have a higher enzymatic activity. Sample B was chosen as the high enzymatic activity by producing 0.165 U/mI enzyme activity followed by sample A producing 0.124U/ml and sample D producing 0.111U/m1 enzyme activity. Bacillus cereus strain-JX847612, Bacillus cereus strain-KF641834 and Bacillus cereus strain-GU056811was identified by using gel electrophoresis method, DNA extraction method and sequenced using BLAST method. Thefore it is important to know the application of cellulose in industry in order to make useful of this research for beneficial. 2014 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Muhamad Fateh Mustafa (2014) Isolation and identification of novel bacteria producing cellulase.
