Description
Summary:Sungai Terang cascade in Jeli district of Kelantan has several interesting geological features which has state level importance. The identified features include geological structures i.e. joints and faults, erosional feature i.e. potholes Iithology i.e. granite porphyry, biotite schist and Quaternary sediments. This paper will discuss about the occurrence of these geological features by geological mapping method. Therefore, a field study was carried out to investigate all these features with respect to highlight their geological characteristics. Measurements on various samples of these geological features were conducted in the field and the data were analyzed in order to determine paleo-stress which corresponds to the formation of Sungai Terang. Rose diagrams of the joints and stereographic projections of the specific faults were plotted in order to determine the inter-relation between them. Potholes dimension were analyzed for pothole classification. Various photographs of these features were captured to observe their dimensions, patterns and distribution within the study area. The lithology was studied by means of hand specimen and thin section. Lastly, a geological map with cross section was produced.
