Study about toxicity of tongkat ali putih, euryconia longifolia (Jack, 1822) and its potential for the masculinization purposed by using brine shrimp, artemia salina
This study aims to investigate the effect of Tongkat Ali on Artemia in two aspects. First, to assess the toxicity level of Tongkat Ali Putih extract with the immersion of Artemia in the extract solution with the concentrations of 0.05, 0:10, 0:15, 0:20, 0:04, 0.60 and 0:08 g / L. Summary: | This study aims to investigate the effect of Tongkat Ali on Artemia in two aspects. First, to assess the toxicity level of Tongkat Ali Putih extract with the immersion of Artemia in the extract solution with the concentrations of 0.05, 0:10, 0:15, 0:20, 0:04, 0.60 and 0:08 g / L. Second, is to assess the suitability and effectiveness of Tongkat Ali solution in the process of masculinizing Artemia. The study was conducted in the laboratory for a week and Artemia fed soy broth powder with an interval of 3 days. The findings from this study indicate that Artemia can live only in certain concentration solution, and conversely many showed negative results. In additon, the results of Anemia masculinizing, showed that Tongkat Ali Putih are not suitable for the masculinization purposed. Future application of this study is to apply to the ornamental fish so it will become monosex fish. Therefore, Further studies should be made to determine exact concentration to make the solution Tongkat Ali Putih is not toxic to Artemia, and thus make all these asexual male Artemia. Success in this study will be one of the measures to boost economic sectors in Malaysia ornamental fish. |
