Summary: | This experiment is conducted at a private banana farm in Lata Janggut. Five treatments with different water sucker densities (ranged from 0 to 4), were examined to study their effect on the growth and development of banana plant, Musa acuminata cv (Berangan', established from the water sucker. The results indicated that the vegetative growth parameter of pseudostem's height and pseudostem's upper girth were significantly influenced, whereas the parameter of psudostem's centre girth, pseudostem's bottom girth and number of green leaves were not significantly influenced by the water sucker density. The treatment 4 consisting of 3 water sucker density had shown numerical influence on growth and development such as the emergence of flower and fruit, of `Berangan' banana as compared to other treatments. Hence, the water sucker density applied in treatment 4 can be recommended during desuckering for banana planting. |
