Description
Summary:The study area is located in Aring, Gua Musang which mostly covered with vegetation such as palm oil plantation and rubber tree plantation. The main objective of this study is to update and detailed the geological map of Aring, Gua Musang area bounded within longitude 102° 19’ 30” E to 102° 22’ 13” E and the latitude 4° 58’ 17” N to 4° 55’ 35” N on scale 1:25,000. Furthermore, this study also conducted to identify the fossils distribution in Aring area. To study the geology, finding fossils and collecting other infonnation in this area, the mapping and field work process had been conducted. The geomorphology in this area is hilly range with the highest altitude is 220m. In this research study area, 3 units of lithology have been found; pyroclastick rock, sandstone and volcanic rocks. Besides that, Aring area also has many geological structure such as fold, fault, bedding, joint and fracture. Plus, abundance of small invertebrate fossils has been discovered in 8 localities of Aring, Gua Musang, and mostly were marine fossils. The fossils abundance and assemblages in the localities also had been calculated and identify. Thus, five different types of phylum fossils have been found, which are Echinodermata, Mollusca, Cnidaria, Porifera and Brachiopoda, distributed in Aring area. .
