Sesamum radiatum is one of the traditional medicinal plant used in Africa and can be found Malaysia. Qualitative analysis of S.radiatum seeds revealed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids and steroids in ethanolic extract. The aqueous extract simultaneously inhibits the presence of saponins and steroids. The results on quantitative analysis show S.radiatum seeds contain alkaloids and saponins with percentage content 36.70 % and 12.04 % respectively. However, UV Visible spectrophotometer was used to obtain a standard calibration curve to determine the concentration of tannins content (4.475 mg GAE/g), ascorbic acid (15.171 mg AAE/g), total phenolic content (9.187 mg GAE/g) and total flavonoid content (4.585 mg QE/g). For DPPH scavenging activity test, ascorbic acid act as positive control to compare with the S.radiatum seeds. The sample extracts inhibit 32 % of scavenging activity with IC50 value is 11.47 mg/L. S.radiatum seeds are suggested as a good sources of supplement based on phytochemicals presence in it. 2019 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed text en http://discol.umk.edu.my/id/eprint/4560/1/Michelle%20Anak%20Slan.pdf Michelle Slan (2019) Phytochemical studies of Sesamum radiatum seeds.
