Description
Summary:Food waste is one of the concerns that has the potential to affect both the environment and humanity. Household food waste was the highest contribution for food waste problem globally. The main focus of this study is to utilize the food waste from household into compost and to assess the physical and chemical properties of the compost as well as to compare the physical and chemical properties with soil and commercial compost. Food waste was collected from household at the Pasir Mas, kelantan area and was left to mature for 2 months. The finished products produced in this research are black in colour and odourless in smell. Seven treatment of output is ware prepared which are SOIL, 01, 02, 03, P1, P2 and P3 in this research. The results of this study have shown that the concentration of physical and chemical parameter in all the sample were in range of 0.59 g/cm3 as the lowest to 1.03 g/cm3 as the highest for bulk density, for, moisture content is 21.12%-63.88%. The highest concentration for every experiment except potassium is dominated by sample 01 and the lowest will be the sample SOIL. In conclusion, from the statistical test of significance using ANOVA revealed that there were significant differences (P<0.05) between the values of all experiment of bulk density, moisture content, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
