Summary:There is an argument that the Internet of Things (IoT) adoption is relatively low especially in the construction industry. Hence, an initiative to examine the IoT adoption amongst contractors becomes the main focus of this study. This initiative is achieved by studying the current standing on relationship of attitudes, awareness, readiness and barriers towards the IoT adoption among contractors in Kelantan. Population of this study are enclosed to the 330 contractors that based in Kelantan on the categories of Grade G5, G6 and G7 with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) of Malaysia. These categories are the top three of highest-rank contractors in Malaysian construction industry that high possibility of having the IoT adoption in their organization. The independent variables in this research are relating to attitudes, awareness, readiness and barriers that influence contractors for adopting IoT in their organization. For purpose of this research, the data is studied through Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) that focusing on the analysis tools such as descriptive analysis, reliability analysis and multiple regression analysis. This study is done by questionnaire survey and total of 109 respondents was taking part in this survey. Based on the results from the analysis of the questionnaire survey, it is clearly shown that the attitudes, awareness, readiness and barriers are contributing to 22.80% changes in the adoption of IoT among the contractors in Kelantan. Significant relationship between IoT adoption and the independent variable has been elaborated accordingly in this research. This research has given some useful indication for enhancing IoT adoption in the construction industry among contractors and the Government of Malaysia might take some appropriate action to pursue on the IoT adoption to embrace towards Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) in this country.
