Summary:Mohd Fadli Yusof is an independent dāʻī from the state of Perak Darul Ridzuan. He has been involved the da’wah work to the non-Muslim community in the rural area of Pensiangan, Sabah since 2011. In two years, he was succeeded converting 269 of non- Muslims from various backgrounds such as farmer, hunter, priest, pastor, students etc. Therefore, the aims of this study is to identify the da’wah approach, factors attracting or influencing the da’wah approach and the problems of the da’wah approach of Mohd Fadli Yusof in the Islamization of the non-Muslim community in the rural areas of Pensiangan, Sabah. The research methodology was used the qualitative through by library and field study methods. In the field, data was obtained with participation observation method and interviewing selected informants (purposive sampling) in Kampung Padang, mukim of Sepulut, Pensiangan, Sabah. The results showed that three da’wah approaches of Mohd Fadli Yusof in the Islamization of the non-Muslim community in the rural areas of Pensiangan are al-ḥikmah, mawʻiẓah al-ḥasanah and mujādalah approaches. The al-ḥikmah approach was carried out by giving da’wah work to the non-Muslims without force, good relationships with non-Muslim, understand the psychology of non-Muslim, visit and give gifts to non-Muslims repeatedly, as well as inviting them for feasts (makan kenduri). Meanwhile, the mawʻizah al-hasanah approach was done by giving da’wah work through oral teaching and showing examples or models of Islamic way of life. While, the almujādalah approach was made through dialogues with non-Muslims during visits. Also the findings showed eight attraction factors on the Mohd Fadli Yusof da’wah approaches toward non-muslim community in the rural of Pensiangan. These factors are qudwah attraction, quwwah attraction, variant attraction, repeated attraction, concern attraction, targhīb and tarhīb attraction, similarity attraction in samawi religion and connecting attraction. This study found the Mohd Fadli Yusof approaches was succeeded converting the non-Muslims belief to ʻaqidah Islam and also developing the good example for social and economy life in the rural of Pensiangan. However, the findings also showed several problems regarding the da’wah approach of Mohd Fadli Yusof in the rural areas of Pensiangan. These problem are Mohd Fadli Yusof health problem, bad examples from previous dāʻī, obstacle from the Christian missionaries in Sabah etc.
