A survey through floristic inspection of home gardens and semi-structured interviews with home garden owners were carried out at 94 home at various villages in Peninsular Malaysia from June through December of 2008. A total of 120 species of plants were encountered of which food plants namely Cocus nucifera L., Nephelium lappaceum L., Musa paradisiacal L., Durio zibethinus Murr and Mangifera indica L were found in most of the home gardens. Most of the species of plants encountered in this study were food plants (51.3%). This was followed by medicinal (17.1 %), ornamental (11.7 %), multiple uses (9.9 %), spice and flavor (7.2%), handicraft (1.8 %), and dye (0.9%).The most common plant family in term of the number of species was Leguminosae. This was followed by Zingiberaceae, Sapindaceae and Malvaceae . Market-based technique, good substitute approach and contingent valuation method are the suggested method to do valuate most of the plants species found in this study. 2012 Thesis NonPeerReviewed application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/1/1_Title_Page_Front_Cover_(Hard_Cover).pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/2/2_Title_Page_First_Cover_(Inside).pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/3/3_ACKNOWLEDGEMTS.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/4/4_ABSTRACT.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/5/5_ABSTRAK.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/7/6_LIST_OF_ABBREVIATIONS.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/8/7_LIST_OF_TABLES.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/9/8_LIST_OF_FIGURES.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/10/9_TABLE_OF_CONTENTS.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/11/10_A_Survey_on_Plant_Resource_in_Home_Gardens_in_Peninsular_Malaysia.pdf application/pdf http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3789/12/11_Publication.pdf http://pendeta.um.edu.my/client/default/search/results?qu=A+survey+on+plant+resource+in+home+gardens+in+Penisular+Malaysia&te= Mohd Raznam, Ramli (2012) A survey on plant resource in home gardens in Penisular Malaysia / Mohd Raznam Ramli.
