Summary: | This study was undertaken to explore the interest towards entrepreneurship among University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Jengka, Pahang students. The population for the study was bachelor students from faculty of Applied Science. Using a questionnaire survey on the students of Applied Science faculty, this study aims to examine whether the Applied Science students have an interest toward entrepreneurship. It also examine whether business involvement and entrepreneurship program variables influence the students to become entrepreneurs. The sample size for the study is 185 comprising of 34 male and 151 females, who were selected by Simple random sampling method. The Cronbach's Alpha Reliability test which can ensure high reliability result was conducted on every variable and it found that the data are distributed normally. Pearson Correlation Coefficient conducted in this study to observe independent variables (business involvemet, entrepreneurial background and entrepreneurship program). The result showed that there is no significant relationship between entrepreneurship programs with students' interest toward entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial experience is important for the students as they are choosing entrepreneurship as their career option. Only one of the variables has significant relationship with entrepreneurial interest. Independent Sample T-test is used to test on personal details (gender differences) of respondents in opposition to dependent variable (entrepreneurial interest). In this study, the result also showed that there is no relationship between entrepreneurial interests between the genders. From this, we can conclude that the gender differences did not affect the student interest toward entrepreneurship. |
