Summary:One of the problems that often occur to the postman in our country is that when they send a registered letter or article they must receive the signature of the recipient as a mark of the recipient has received the goods. Then, when the recipient is not at home, the recipient had to take possession of the Post Office to keep the goods. The purpose of this study is to produce a smart mailbox that can detect the bar code number listed on the letter or the goods and the box will open and locked back when the bar code number of the item is the same bar code number entered by the recipient in the smart box. Extensive research has been done manipulate computer software and troubleshooting steps postman has been proposed. Studies done based on user requirements, cost of the project, the portability of the project and the type of detector used bar code numbers to give confirmation to the postman that the goods are owned by the recipient. According to the study, tracking bar code number as in the supermarket is more suitable for use in the postman as compared with the detection of other bar code number. Basic requirements of a smart box is like LCD, sensor bar code number, and microcontroller.
