Summary:The term "Biar mati anak, jangan mati adat' or (You may afford to lose your child but not your culture) is synonym with the followers of the custom in Negeri Sembilan. The Perpatih custom, also known as 'Nasab Ibu' system or Matrilineal System, is being used by most of the Malay community in Negeri Sembilan. Its scope covers the areas like politics, economy, social, moral, material, spiritual and culture of a community. The main objective of the research is to understand the purpose Tanah Adat' in Negeri Sembilan, to identify the development process with special concern on Tanah Adat' in Negeri Sembilan and to compare between State Land and Tanah Adat' in Negeri Sembilan. The land, inherited to different generations tends to be a huge problem when it comes to the matter of law. To develop it is a one tricky play of laws and regulations. Questionnaire was sent out to the society in Negeri Sembilan, total of 30 respondents were received representing 30% of the questionnaire forms distributed. Perpatih custom had determined the importance between what should be remained and what should be changed. The Perpatih custom remained but it keeps changing. So as the world itself; it may remain until 'Kiamat' but it keeps changing.
