Description
Summary:A system of signs, spatial arrangement, and other architectural features that aid people in navigating a site is referred to as signage. People in public areas may either find their way or become lost. In general, signage aids navigation; nevertheless, it cannot compensate for very complex or large facilities, such as libraries, where studies show that most users' questions are directional. Inconsistent signage leads to location errors even in places with good visibility, connectivity, and a moderate level of plan complexity. If there is no signage, visitors may be unsure what is going on in the library or where to go. This study tries to solve these problems by defining and showing a useful method for evaluating library signage. The goal of this study is to look at the influence of the signage design approach on public libraries, to establish a systematic technique for using the signage design approach in public libraries, and to find out what users think about the signage design approach in public libraries. It focuses on the Raja Tun Uda library in Shah Alam, Selangor, and their systematic signage approach. This research is based on data obtained from an online poll of people's opinions on library signage at a specific location. The data was analysed to assess and identify the acceptability of the current signage, as well as its recommendations for improvements, which influenced the literature review of a previous case study on a similar topic. Signage has an important influence in users' use of public libraries, according to the research. The study's conclusions suggested that signpost location and design be altered to improve library patron efficiency. The research will aid in the creation of signs as well as the necessary improvements to the Raja Tun Uda library.
