| Summary: | The building element such as column, wall, roof and others which was constructed have their own function and characteristic. Therefore, the quality of construction for any kind building elements must be considered as it will affect
the whole building performance. To determine the problems involve the construction quality, the research with topic “Effects of Roof Construction to the Maintenance Works” was carried out. Roof is an element that is need to be constructed for all building that will be occupied by people, the function of roof is to give protection and cover from weather and dangerousness not only for occupant but also to other building structure below its. However, if the construction quality is not properly maintained, there are several problems can be issued which are the defects on roof component occurred due to failure in designing and material selection will be influence the performance of roof function. The safety of building occupant is main issues that need to be considered because the building is occupied and functioned as usually. Lack of maintenance on roof component can cause the serious problems to the whole building structure. The research methodology starting from preliminary studies until conclusion on finding was followed in completing this case study. The results obtained from this case study show that both case study buildings have their own problems to be faced due to roof construction quality are not in state of satisfied conditions. The problems that were occurred such as leakage, moisture, plant growth is commonly happen on roof element. There also the problems that caused from material used which can affect the building occupant health. The construction for building element need to be carried out carefully and followed the proper method to avoid the problems occurred in the future. |
