Summary: | There is less participation of handicapped people in the economic activities of our country, eventhough, their numbers keep on growing from time to time. Most of the handicapped people involved in in-house industry which need not have much movement. The reason why there is less involvement of the handicapped people is because of the lack of public transport system for them to move around especially for the physically handicapped people. This problem is becoming more critical when there is no co-operation from particular parties which are involved, for instance, Government, bus operators, terminal and others. In assisting the mobility of physically and handicapped people, the involvement and coordination from various parties are really needed. This study is carried out in order to find out the facilities that are assisted the mobility of impaired travellers which is concentrated on four main factors. The factors are Government, bus operator, terminal and vehicle designers/manufacturers. With the co-operation of the above parties and followed by enforcement, it will facilitate the mobility of the impaired travellers. |
