Description
Summary:These day, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has penetrate into our education field widely and its presence has made our lifestyle and paradigm changed too. Students are to be exposed to this latest technology since they will be left behind if the Malaysian Education Ministry and other parties involved do not take drastic and appropriate actions such as upgrading the present facilities and trained potential teachers for that. The purpose of the study is to determine the extent of the usage of computers in Sekolah Kebangsaan Kelulut, Marang. Specifically, it aims to evaluate the teachers and pupils’ attitude towards its usage at school and their perceptions on the ICT itself. Another important aspect is to identify whether the schedule of the school computer laboratory is well accepted by the respondents or not. Significantly, it can reveal how they run the resource centre by statistically monitoring the results of the findings for instance. The outcomes of the study shows that most of the teachers and pupils involved convey good and positive responses and it seems that this type of technology is gradually accepted, taught and applied by the teachers during the learning process. It is also reveals that the schedule of the computer laboratory should be improved, in the sense that, the present schedule is likely not well accepted by most of the respondents due to certain reasons but it has still rooms for improvement. The respondents are different in terms of their competency in the usage of the computer but they still managed to come out with the consensus that computer is a very effective tool in the process of learning and majority of them prefer this technology to be applied rather than the traditional by what so called ‘chalk and talk’.
