Summary:This research concerns about Muslim women's incapability to claim their rights in marriage under Islamic Family Law (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003 when they failed to register their marriage in accordance to Section 25 of the Enactment. Chapter 3 talks on requirements for a valid marriage that need to be complied with under Hukum Syarak and under Islamic Family Law (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003 by couples who intend to get married. This chapter also discusses on the substantive requirements that need to be conformed to by couples before getting married. Chapter 4 deals with the procedures on registration of marriage, the procedures on registration of unregistered marriage, punishments available for non-registration of marriage. All these are subjected to Selangor Islamic Family Law Enactment 2003. This chapter also talks on factors that contribute to unregistered marriage. Chapter 5 mentioned on the rights of women in marriage under Islamic Family Law (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003 and the difficulties in enforcing these rights in absence of a registered marriage. In addition, adverse effects to children and to the family institution itself are mentioned under this chapter. In Chapter 6, several recommendations to overcome the problem of unregistered marriage are provided. Finally in Chapter 7, the overall conclusion for this research will be made. This research is a library based research. Internet is also one of our sources to dig information on this matter. We also did some interviews with persons that can provide relevant information regarding to our research, among others are Puan Kamaazura, a Syarie lawyer in Klang and Ustaz Khairul Jahrin, Pendaftar Nikah, Cerai dan Rujuk at Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS).
